Hole in the Earth is about the fascination for how the other side of the earth would be, and is about connecting two totally different cultures on the earth.

Hole in the Earth consists of two identical installations - one is installed on one side of the earth and the other is installed on the other side of the earth. Through these "holes" you can see and hear the other side of the earth.

Both "holes" are exchanging the real-time sound and image via the internet.

Throughout the whole year of 2004, The Hole in the Earth has permanently been connecting the public space of Rotterdam(The Netherlands) and a popular mosque in Bandung(Indonesia). The installation was up running above 95 percent throughout this period.

Currently the installation is sleeping and preparing for the connection with new places.
